I chose WashU because it is an extremely well-rounded program that I felt would set me up well to pursue a career as a neurosurgeon-scientist. The program and faculty emphasize the development of technical operative skills, clinical knowledge outside of the operating room, and curiosity to advance the field forward with many of our faculty members running their own labs in addition to operating.
