Registered Medical Assistant Monique Fort

Why did you enter the medical field?

I became interested in the medical field after watching my grandmother and father deal with a lot of medical issues and seeing the exceptional care that they received while hospitalized.

What brought you to the Department of Neurosurgery?

The neurological system is very interesting to me, and I wanted to be a part of the Neurosurgery Team.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is and always will be the interactions I have with patients.  Knowing that I can comfort a patient and assist them with getting the proper care they need is very rewarding.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy camping, wine tasting and family outings when we’re together. I also enjoy reading and lots of shopping.

Tell us about your sons, Derrick and Cameron. What inspired them to join the Marines?

Cameron Doss, 19-years-old, USMC
Derrick Fort, Jr., 20-years-old

We have several generations of military family members. The fact that their dad is a military veteran also played a part in their decision to join the armed forces and continue our family’s long tradition of protecting our country and community.
