Dr. Limbrick named Chair of Neurosurgery at VCU

After two decades of service, a beloved member of the pediatric neurosurgery division is leaving Washington University. David D. Limbrick, MD, PhD, the T. S. Park, MD, Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Washington University School of Medicine will become the next Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Virginia Commonwealth University. His tenure at VCU begins in September.

Dr. Limbrick moved to St. Louis from his home state of Virginia in 2002, where he completed a surgery internship, a neurosurgery residency and postdoctoral research, all at Washington University, before going on to a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He joined the WashU Neurosurgery faculty in 2008 and was named the Neurosurgeon-in-Chief at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 2016. In 2019, Dr. Limbrick was installed as the inaugural T.S. Park, MD, Chair in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s. His contributions to the neurosurgery pediatric division are innumerable. In addition to being a highly skilled surgeon and groundbreaking researcher, Dr. Limbrick has been adored by his patients and their parents.

In August, the department honored Dr. Limbrick at a dinner at the St. Louis Art Museum. We wish Dr. Limbrick continued success and know that he will blaze a trail at VCU.
