The Taylor Family Department of Neurosurgery recognized its graduating chief residents for their dedication, leadership, and years of neurosurgical training.

We recently came together for our annual Chiefs Party, a longstanding tradition that recognizes our graduating chief residents and celebrates the completion of their neurosurgical training. The evening provided an opportunity to reflect on their accomplishments, honor their contributions to the department, and recognize those who have made an exceptional impact throughout the year.
This year, we are proud to recognize our chief residents:
- Sean Gupta, MD
- Derek Li, MD
- Benjamin Plog, MD, PhD

As they begin the next chapter of their careers, we are excited to share their future plans. Sean Gupta, MD will remain at WashU Medicine to complete a Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship. Derek Li, MD will join the faculty of the Taylor Family Department of Neurosurgery as a brain tumor surgeon-scientist. Benjamin Plog, MD will continue his training with a Spine Fellowship at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
In addition to celebrating our chief residents, several awards were presented during the evening:
- Luke McClanahan and Carmina Lim received the Surgical Team Member Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the healthcare team and patient care.
