WashU Welcomes Back Dual Vascular/Endovascular Trained Neurosurgeon
The Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University is thrilled to announce that Anna Huguenard, MD, will rejoin our faculty in September 2025. Dr. Huguenard obtained her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and earned her medical degree from Emory University. She then went on to complete her Neurosurgery Residency and Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology Fellowship at WashU.
Gregory J. Zipfel, MD, Chair of the Taylor Department of Neurosurgery and Ralph G. Dacey Distinguished Professor of Neurosurgery, said, “Dr. Huguenard’s extensive experience treating vascular conditions with minimally invasive endovascular surgeries and open surgeries makes her extremely well-suited to join WashU’s Department of Neurosurgery.”
“Dr. Huguenard is an outstanding vascular neurosurgeon in addition to being a rising star as a translational scientist and clinical trialist. She will be an integral part of our growing Comprehensive Stroke Center, and we could not be more pleased that she is joining our faculty.”
As a resident, Anna excelled both clinically and academically. She was awarded the Robert Grubb Clinical Excellence Award. She was also a part of the Lee Lab during her residency. Additionally, Dr. Huguenard’s abstract was chosen as the Best Science Abstract Award recipient at the Neurocritical Care Society’s annual meeting.
Dr. Huguenard is currently completing a Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Surgery Fellowship with Michael Lawton, MD, a world-renowned expert in the neurosurgical treatment of vascular abnormalities, at the Barrow Neurological Institute.
We are very excited to welcome her back in the Fall!
