Santiago named chief of spine division at University of Missouri

After more than 19 years in the Department of Neurosurgery, a familiar face will be departing soon. Paul Santiago, MD, is joining the faculty of Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Missouri as the Chief of the Spine Division. His last day is Jan. 31.

Dr. Santiago joined us at WashU immediately after his fellowship and has been a stalwart figure in the department ever since. Dr. Santiago exemplifies what all neurosurgeons strive to achieve – providing exceptional patient care and outstanding education to the next generation.

Voted a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, Dr. Santiago specializes in complex disorders of the spine and spinal cord. During his tenure at WashU, he led the Spine Fellowship in Neurosurgery and was the Director of Patient Safety and Quality Improvement. Outside of the operating room, Dr. Santiago became an accomplished glass blower and has been a fixture at Third Degree Glass Factory.

We will miss Dr. Santiago and are grateful for his contributions to the department. We wish him all the best as he blazes a new trail at Mizzou.
