Julie Coenen, NP
Julie joined Washington University Neurosurgery shortly after obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Goldfarb School of Nursing. She worked for eight years initially as a staff nurse in the operating room, then ultimately advanced to a leadership position as a Resource Nurse. In that role, she helped to facilitate case preparations and maximize patient safety in the peri- and intra-operative environment. Meanwhile, Julie also pursued a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University, becoming a Nurse Practitioner. This new degree enabled her to transition to the outpatient clinics, where she works directly with patients to ensure exceptional care both before and after surgery.
Julie loves working with patients in a highly specialized field such as neurosurgery, in which she can have a major impact in educating patients and guiding them through the management of their complex and challenging problems.
