Grubb Alumni Symposium 2025

A celebration of neurosurgical leadership, education, and community.

This past weekend, we were honored to host the inaugural Robert L. Grubb, Jr., MD Alumni Symposium here in St. Louis — a celebration of neurosurgical education, leadership, and community.

Alumni from across the country returned to share insights on career development, practice models, leadership, and innovation in neurosurgery. A special highlight of the day was the Grubb Lecture, delivered by Dr. Amy Lee (Class of 2010): “Your Most Important Patient.”  Her thoughtful and moving talk reemphasized the importance of compassionate neurosurgical care. She challenged the audience to explore what brought them into the field of neurosurgery, highlighting the value of centering on your purpose.

Additionally, the event coincided with the release of Dr. Grubb’s new book, Honoring Tradition, Shaping the Future, a thoughtful and in-depth look at the history of the Taylor Family Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University.

From engaging presentations to reconnecting over dinner and local brews, the weekend was a meaningful celebration of Dr. Grubb’s ongoing legacy and the strength of our alumni community.

Thank you to everyone who participated — we’re already looking forward to the next one.
