Twelve-year-old Jackson Scharf sustained a devastating hemorrhage in his cerebellum, the lowest portion of the brain towards the back of the skull.  He had an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and was saved by the efforts of David Limbrick, MD, chief of pediatric neurosurgery, and the neurosurgical team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Neurosurgery resident Bhuvic Patel wins NREF 2019-20 Research Fellowship Grant

The Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation and American Academy of Neurological Surgery (AAcNS) have presented the 2019-2020 NREF Research Fellowship Grant to Washington University neurosurgery resident Bhuvic Patel, MD. Dr. Patel will investigate biomarkers and mechanisms of radiation resistance in Grade II meningiomas. Patel will report on his research progress at the 2020 AAcNS meeting.
