Research focus

Dr. Friedman’s laboratory develops next-generation neurotechnologies that combine neural interfaces, human neurophysiology, and AI/machine learning to better understand and treat disorders of the nervous system. By integrating intracranial electrophysiology, advanced neuroimaging, and computational neuroscience, his team studies how neural circuits generate movement and behavior and translates these insights into adaptive neuromodulation systems and precision surgical therapies. His research spans the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system, with applications in movement disorders, epilepsy, mood disorders, neurorehabilitation, and restorative neurosurgery.
