New Hope for Nerve Regeneration

Science Daily reports: “Researchers have developed an implantable, bioabsorbable device that speeds recovery in rats by stimulating injured nerves with electricity.” The device potentially could be used in people with peripheral nerve injuries, which leave them with tingling, numbness and weakness in their arms, hands or legs.

Washington University neurosurgeon Zach Ray, MD, who joined a team of researchers at Washington University in St. Louis and Northwestern University in Chicago on the project, explains how the device works in this video.
